A Back-End Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the server-side components of web and software applications. The role involves building APIs, managing databases, implementing business logic, and ensuring application performance and security.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain server-side applications and web services.
Design, develop, and integrate REST APIs and other backend services.
Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code.
Design and manage databases and optimize queries.
Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
Implement authentication, authorization, and security measures.
Debug and resolve backend issues and application errors.
Work with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Perform testing and improve application performance.
Use version-control systems such as Git.
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
Deploy and maintain backend applications in development and production environments.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of at least one backend language such as Python, Java, PHP, Node.js, C#, or Ruby.
Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
Understanding of REST APIs and web services.
Knowledge of Git and basic software development practices.
Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
Understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is an advantage.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure/GCP is an advantage.
